Ocala, Florida (February 15, 2023)………Chase Stockon led the way during Wednesday night’s open practice for the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship at Ocala, Florida’s Bubba Raceway Park.

The Fort Branch, Ind. native, who won the 2018 opening night Winter Dirt Games feature in Ocala, topped the field of 28 with a time of 13.914 seconds around the 3/8-mile D-shaped dirt track aboard his KO Motorsports/Banded Ag – Dewig Meats – AMSOIL/Flea RC/Fisher Chevy.

The Tampa Bay Area Racing Association Winged Sprint Cars were out in force as 23 of the high-powered machines checked into the pits. Hard luck Bo Hartley had yet more engine problems and was trailered before the end of hot laps. Wayne Reutimann, Jr., a winner here in USCS competition earlier in the year, made contact with Gary Gimmler in heat one and hit the turn two wall ending his evening early as well.

Jefferson Surprises Modified Foes on “Reutimann Night” at Ocala Speedway

Not many of the drivers and fans at Ocala Speedway Friday night were too familiar with St. Petersburg area driver Wayne “Rocketman” Jefferson, but they became very familiar with him in a hurry as he ran off with the evening’s 20-lap WIND-FM Modified feature while it was a famous racing family’s time to shine in the visiting United Sprint Car Series main event.
