ZUBER (November 24 1964) – This is a fan1iliar scene to many people from the Ocala area as take take to the Ocala Raceway every Sunday to watch the thrilling races. Often as many as 1,000 fans pack the stadium the afternoon racing.

ZUBER – The only warm spot in the county Sunday was at the Ocala Speedway where the cars were running almost hot enough to warm the crowd.

The first heat had to be started a second time after Roy Frank slid backwards out of a curve. locking wheels with Richard Metheney; Joe Bass finishing first.

First sportsman class held a close vie for winning position between Ward Kirksey, Ruby Brinson and Don Toothman- (top point sportsman driver) with Toothman taking tile the checkered flag after Kirksey and Brinson crowded the wall. Toothman also checked in winning position in the feature sportsman class race after tough fight with Jim Bates.

Sam Howqard in Y-9 made a good show on the track afterr cracking the wall in the trails. Ray Arthur. not stopped after losing three fenders. Finally had to give in after his second three car pile up. ‘Wild’ Willie Moore, whose car has a case of “wiggles” cleared the fence of spectators twice af1er riding it high twice. Dave Elswick (top street class driver) had a
tough dad, hooking on to and being slung into the fence by Roy Fronk. spinning out. and losing a wheel. but managing to come in second in the street feature.
