The forecast for Friday was never offered much promise for racing with a 70% chance of rain, but it was rain the previous day coupled with early showers on Friday that put a stop to racing for October 5th.
The grassy area above turn 2 had become totally saturated and was draining across the track in the turn, creating a steady flow of water which made racing impossible.
Even if no more showers were to fall, that area would need at least 24 hours to sufficiently dry out and the flow of water to cease, so no racing this weekend.
Ocala Speedway owner Michael Peters has rescheduled the 50 lap/$1000 to win V8 Pure Stock Race for next week, October 12th. The Ford of Ocala 4 Cylinder Stock Race scheduled as a make up event will also run on October 12th.
Other divisions running on October 12th will include the V8 Thunder Stocks, Market of Marion Street Stocks, Diamond H Racin’ Sportsman division, and the Late Models. Also, the LifeSouth Bloodmobile will be at the track on October 12th to take donations.
Also, remember that the 2nd Annual 12 Hours of Ocala Endurance Race will run on Saturday, October 20th. The race will run from 9 AM until 9 PM, rain or shine.
Teams can still enter the race by filling out the downloadable entry form found at OcalaSpeedway.com, or by dropping by the speedway during regular business hours during the week.
