An afternoon thunderstorm that dumped a copious amount of rain washed out racing for Friday the 13th at Ocala Speedway. The storm, which passed north of Ocala at around 3:30PM, caused minor flooding just south of the speedway, and flooded intersections in the northern part of the city. While Ocala Speedway did not feel the full brunt of the storm, the torrential rains saturated the racing surface to the point that any attempt to race tonight would be futile. Ocala Speedway owner Mike Peters decided the best move was to cancel racing and try again next week.

The Late Models are scheduled to return to Ocala Speedway on Friday, June 20th. along with the Hobby Stocks and Gladiators. The $1000 to win V8 Thunder Stock race scheduled for the 13th is now rescheduled for June 20th as well. There was no word on the status of the Lazy Boy recliner giveaway scheduled for June 13th as to when or if it might be rescheduled.
