ZUBER, FL- Nature has not been kind to the Florida racing world this summer, and Ocala Speedway has endured more than enough nights off due to rain or wet conditions. So as thunderstorms and showers rumbled all around the speedway, Mike Peters and the staff at Ocala Speedway kept a positive attitude and focused on getting the track ready for racing. Even after a late afternoon shower dampened things, those preparations continued and a large crowd showed up to watch a night of racing.
But as the heat races got underway more weather woes developed west of the track and began moving toward Zuber, and by the time the Open Wheel Modified heat races were beginning there were rumblings not far from the track. Peters and his crew remained determined, and as rain began to fall it was announced to the crowd that racing would continue after a delay. Unfortunately, the rain also continued, and showers persisted until almost 11PM before Peters finally gave in and postponed the night’s events. And over an hour after the lights were out and most folks had gone home, that persistent rain continued to fall.
All events scheduled for Friday, July 31st, are nor rescheduled for Friday, August 21st. Racers are to keep their arm bands for pit admission, and fans should hold onto their ticket stubs to be readmitted on the 21st. The program will resume on August 21st where it ended due to rain. Because the Hobby Stock race was scheduled as a $1000 to win, 30 lap event, that field will be locked on the 21st and no new additional cars can be added. Any additions to other divisions will be added to the tail of their respective races on the 21st. The heat race for the Mini Stock division was completed, so the field for that feature will be set by the results from that race.
