ZUBER, FL- Thanks to torrential rains, and the forecasts and radar indicating that more is on the way, The United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series and Ocala Speedway officials have postponed the 14th Annual Powell Memorial which was scheduled to run tonight, Friday, June 5th. Even if the rain were to somehow move on, the track itself is beyond any hope of recovery in time to race tonight. As of 1:30PM the retention area and drain in turn 4 has been overwhelmed and the infield is flooded, after three rounds of torrential downpours earlier in the day.
Ocala Speedway owner Mike Peters says that the race will be made up on Friday, June 19th , when hopefully better weather conditions will allow for an exciting and competitive race. The Amsoil V8 thunder Stocks, and the Mini Stocks will also race on that date, as planned on the original schedule. Further details will be posted at www.OcalaSpeedway.com as soon as they are finalized.
