Orlando’s Eddie Thornton was again the dominant force as he won his fifth consecutive South 40 Motorsports Classic Auto Racing Series feature event Saturday night at Ocala Speedway.

The clouds moved in as race time drew near, but the rain held off and we had a full evening of racing consisting of all of our regular classes plus School Bus Figure 8’s, a Demolition Derby and a Limited Late Model exhibition.

Ocala, FL, June 30, 2001 – The Ocala Speedway was under threat of rain, but the showers never came. Racing was hot and the stands were packed for the regular Saturday night features and the special SARA Modifieds 50-lap race.
