Stunt driver Seely rides at Ocala tonight

OCALA- Todd Seeley is not your normal daredevil stunt driver. Despite a wide variety of accomplishments, he doesn’t even care for the term “daredevil,”
He is the working man’s stunt driver, and he will show off those skills tonight at Ocala Speedway, when he will star during the intermission or the normal five-division race card.

“The show is a highlight all the way through,” Seeley said Friday after a get-acquainted walk-through at the 318-milc pa1•ed oval, “I’ll give the fans something they don’t see every day.” At about 8:30 p.m., Seeley plans to warm up with some wheeJies before Jumping his Honda CR500 motorcycle 150 feet from ramp to ramp. There will be a four-wheeler Honda ATV jump over the same distance in the midst of a pyrotechnic display. And, in a new twist, he will steer a Honda Pilot mini-dune buggy nearly I00 feet, attempting to land on a moving ramp.

Seeley’s show is part of the nor• mal $10 grandstand tickets (S20 in the pits) to Ocala Speedway: Children 55 inches or shorter are admitted free with an adult.
“We’ve been trying to get Todd for three years, but there have always been scheduling conflicts. It has always been booked up,” Ocala Speedway co-owner Paul Pitre said. “We are very happy to have him now. It adds so much 10 the weekly schedule or events when you can have a special show like this one. “That’s what we attempt to do, provide quality racing every week with special shows like the Outlaw Winged Sprints and the Demolition Derby.”

Tonight’s events also include Dwarf Car and Pro Figure 8 racing, in addition to the five-point classes. “It’s amazing what (Pitre) has done with this place,” said Seeley, who is based in Crystal Springs, outside Tampa. “I was here several years ago, and the difference between then and now is unbelievable.”

To get to Ocala Speedway, take I-75 south to the SR 326 exit just north of Ocala. Turn left and go about one mile to a traffic light. Take another left to the truck, which is about one mile north.
